- Our Team | Prepare for Babies
Our Team Rushton & Mandy Metzler House Parents mandy@prepareforbabies.org Rushton and Mandy Metzler began this ministry by simply giving their “yes” to a repeated whisper from the Lord calling them to…"prepare for babies.” They have always had a heart for babies and children and take seriously the biblical mandate to care for the orphan and the widow. So naturally when God crossed their paths with Richard and Monica Sotolongo, the founders of Abide To Love, Inc., they began to see that God was up to something, and together sought His heart for a solution to a major problem of orphanhood in our generation. They believe every life is precious and an expression of the image of God. The Lord has gifted them with two sons, Knox and Luke. Rushton and Mandy believe strongly in the power of the spirit of adoption over this generation and generations to come. In 2021, after five years of ministering to people battling alcohol and drug addiction, and helping to start a church in their hometown of Augusta, they felt God calling them in a different direction. Little did they know, as they began to prepare for this new ministry, that Roe v. Wade would possibly be overturned the following year. They believe God is calling people all over the country to stand up and be the solution to the crisis that plagues our nation. It’s time to obey the mandate to care for orphans and widows and to restore families to their original design. Mandy is affectionately called “Mama Mandy” by those that know her, and Rushton carries a father’s heart to protect, provide, and pursue. Rushton has been a firefighter for Columbia County for over 16 years and owns a lawn care business. He currently serves on the board for Abide To Love. Mandy is a night nanny who cares for newborns as well as a stay at home mom who finds joy in raising her tiny disciples. They love to create lasting memories for their children whether it be camping, cooking out with friends, swimming in their pool or praying for strangers wherever they go. They desire that their children, and the entire body of Christ, would know their identity of sonship and authority in Christ. Rushton and Mandy’s families, on both sides, have a generational legacy of outreach, hospitality, and adoption. They are honored to follow God’s leading in paving a new path for this generation. Lindsey Knox Program Director metzudah@prepareforbabies.org Lindsey is the loving wife of Phillip Knox, and the amazing mother of their 3 children; James, Michael and Kaylee. When Lindsey isn't busy handling the intake and donations at Prepare for Babies, she does administrative work at Phillip's Automotive and P&P Ground Services, both owned by her husband. Lindsey also loves camping with her family and friends, relaxing by the fire or smudge pot in the evenings, and sipping on a nice, hot cup of coffee. Lindsey joined the PFB Family early on by volunteering to organize our donation warehouse. From there she was eager to continue serving in any way she could, and she began scheduling appointments with mothers who contacted us for assistance. Lindsey quickly fell in love with this role as she met with each mother and helped them with their "PFB Shopping Spree". While attending The Heartbeat Conference with Prepare for Babies in 2023, Lindsey received confirmation from the Lord that this ministry was right where He wanted her to be. A few months later Lindsey was baptized and became a sister in Christ. Lindsey stands strong in her faith and helps these moms in one of the hardest times of their lives. She always does an amazing job of making them feel loved and cared for without any judgement of their personal situation. After meeting a new mom, Lindsey often says, "I don’t know who needed that appointment more, me or that momma!" When asked about her position at Prepare for Babies, Lindsey instantly lights up. The passion and sense of purpose she finds through serving with our team is our prayer for each of our staff members and volunteers. Board Members Baylee Avery Board Member & Marketing & Events Coordinator marketing@prepareforbabies.org Baylee and her husband, Jim, have both lived in the CSRA their entire lives, and are now raising their 2 children here as well. Baylee was blessed to grow up in a conservative, Christian family with parents who always encouraged her relationship with Christ. In 2013, Baylee graduated from what is now Augusta University with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology. Completing the final month of her degree while 9 months pregnant with a precious, but unexpected baby girl, is an achievement she fully credits to God, and the constant support of her family/friends. Baylee says this type of unfailing support and grace is how God began preparing her heart for Prepare for Babies long before the ministry was even established. After learning about PFB through a social media post in 2022, Baylee immediately registered to become a volunteer. When asked what sparked her eagerness to join our team, Baylee described how "absolutely heartbreaking" it is for her to imagine a mother feeling so hopeless that she actually believes she has no other option but to abort her sweet baby. Baylee says it didn't take a second thought for her to know she wanted to share the love of Christ with these moms, and make sure they know that PFB will help them get on their feet and become the mother God created them to be. Baylee's role as our Marketing and Events Coordinator happened naturally at the first opportunity she had to use her creativity and love for party planning within the ministry. Baylee and her team organize many of our community events, including our biggest annual event, Kickball for a Cause. She also designs many of our graphics, flyers and digital content that we use to promote PFB. When Baylee isn't working on a project for Prepare for Babies, it is almost guaranteed that she is busy creating invitations, or helping her friends plan parties. We can always count on Baylee to come up ideas that are fun and beneficial for the ministry. Monica Sotolongo Board Member Monica Sotolongo is married to the love of her life, and together they have 8 children. Monica and her family have internationally adopted, fostered locally in the state of Florida, and hosted orphans from around the world. Monica and her husband are the cofounders of Abide to Love, a non profit organization with the goal of diminishing injustice by restoring family. They strongly believe that there is a move of God to shift the culture of family here in the United States and in the nations, and they are excited to partner with Prepare for Babies to raise up a culture of strong families in Georgia!

Services Housing Under Georgia's newly passed Betsy's Law, we are able to house mothers who are choosing life for their babies. As of Fall 2025, expecting mothers are able to live in our maternity home for the duration of their pregnancy, through the first 18 months of the baby's life. Our staff will focus on sharing the love of Christ with each brave mother, while also equipping them to maintain a stable and respectable life for themselves and their baby. Mentorship & Counseling We have a wonderful team of mentors and counselors who are available to walk with parents into family restoration. We also provide trauma-informed counseling and spiritual support as well. Supportive Care For the duration of their stay in the maternity home, mothers are supplied with essentials for maternity and post-partum care, as well as necessities for their babies. - Prepare for Babies
At one time, if a woman was in a crisis pregnancy situation, she had three options: raise the baby in an unstable environment, give the baby up for adoption, or terminate the pregnancy. Prepare for Babies was established in 2022 in order to help mothers who are afraid or unsure how they'll manage. We want to remove the obstacles that cause mothers to consider abortion— replacing fear and uncertainty with the reassurance and tangible support that every mother needs to sustain her pregnancy and prepare a strong foundation for her family. In Fall of 2025, we opened the doors of Metzudah, the first maternity supportive housing residence in the CSRA. After completing the application and intake procedures, expectant mothers are able to live at Metzudah for the duration of their pregnancy, through the first 18 months of the baby's life. During their stay, mothers receive the full support and guidance of our mentors as they plan for their future with their new baby. Our staff focuses on sharing the love of Christ with each guest, while also equipping them to maintain a stable and respectable life for themselves and their baby. This is a new opportunity for the body of Christ to rise up to the mandate in James 1:27— to care for the orphan and the widow in their time of distress. Loving these beautiful ones is loving the Lord Himself. Scroll down to learn more about the mission and future plans for Prepare for Babies. Our Mission To provide a safe and loving home for pregnant women in crisis while equipping them to build abundant lives rooted in Jesus Christ. Every mother supported, every child wanted. The Vision for Prepare for Babies It was during a season of prayer that the Lord repeatedly placed the phrase "Prepare for Babies" on the hearts of Rushton and Mandy Metzler, the founders of this ministry. Although they did not know what "Prepare for Babies" would become at that time, the Metzlers obediently gave the Lord their "yes" and continued to pray for His vision to be made clear to them. One night soon after, Rushton had a dream that revealed the Lord's plan to establish an entire property of homes for pregnant women. The property consisted of a main house, surrounded by cottages that safely housed the mothers and their babies. The peace and reassurance that the Metzlers experienced following this dream washed out any space for doubt. They immediately knew this was how the Lord intended for them to respond to the call to serve, minister to, and build up these mothers. After seeking counsel and advice from ministry leaders here in the CSRA, the Metzlers found that many women in need of housing often slip through the cracks because they do not qualify for other programs or assistance. The need became clear; a loving place for these pregnant women to live, where they can receive the support and resources to get on their feet and become the mothers the Lord created them to be. Since then, God has continued to pave the way for Prepare for Babies because taking care of these women was never the responsibility of the government, but instead a calling for the body of Christ. Below are floor plans for the main house, the house parent(s) cottage, and the transitional cottages where mothers will live with their babies. We are confident that, in His time, the Lord will provide the land and the means for Prepare for Babies to build these houses, just as He revealed in His vision. In the meantime, we are thankful to be serving mothers and their babies through a home we are renting in Columbia County.
